You have your hands full

What does that mean exactly? You are waiting at the tire store for you flat tire to get fixed and a woman also waiting (alone, calm, hair combed) watches you from a distance. You are fully aware that she is watching since there is nothing else to do while waiting at the tire store and you and your bunch are pure entertainment. Youngest child screaming in his stroller, 3 year old whining because there is sand in his shoes and they hurt, 5 year old and 7 year old arguing about who gets to close the van doors with the remote...you get the idea. So what does that mean, "You have your hands full?" Does it mean, "I really think you are doing an amazing job juggling those kids who would much rather prefer to be at a park than here in this stinky tire store without a toy in sight" or ...does it mean "I can see that your hair is not combed for a reason!"

I hate that comment--why do people say that? Like we don't know already?? How about saying, "Can I give you a hand????" People think they are so original when they say that. I know I've got a whole new round of "hands full" comments coming my way in about a month. Maybe I'll just wear earplugs so I don't hear them.

Laura that made me laugh. What a good relatable story. So now in the future will just call me. :)

I think it depends on the person. Some may feel you are crazy to have so many small kids others feel nostalgia. A man in SAMS last week said that to me...I sort of defensively said.."yeah...it's crazy...but they(my kids) are great." He then went on to say..."we have 4 kids too...two in highschool, 2 in college...enjoy them...it goes by so fast." He looked as though he had tears in his eyes as he was looking at my children hanging on the cart.
