That's what I love about you

Whit comes from a very talented family. Singing, dancing, comedy...those Churches and Egans know how to put on a good show. Whether it is from growing up around so many performers, exposure to show tunes at a young age, or just hereditary, Whit has these qualities in abundance. This past week he has sat down at the dinner table speaking in an English accent, Spanish accent, the accent of a southern football addict, and even a unique blending of several different accents whose country of origin is a bit vague. Maybe I should call it his European accent!

All these characters keep things light and silly and even bring out the acting in our kids who try to answer back in the same accent.

I love that about Whit.

Today I took Brooke and Elias to see High School Musical. We went extra early to procure the best seats possible and so while waiting I gave Whit a call. I asked him if he needed some ideas of what to do around the house while I was gone. He said, "Why, isn't holding down the fort enough?" I asked him how he was holding down the fort exactly and he said, "Well Danny and I have been sword fighting since you left." It is hard to ask Whit to mop the floor or clean out his junk drawer when I know that he is so good at making moments that count with his kids.

Tonight Whit went to the ASU football game and little Dan and Titus stayed home with me. With big tears in his eyes Danny said goodbye to his Dad. Eventually the sadness went, but he kept asking throughout the night when his Dad would be home.

Whit knows how to make 30 minutes of uninterrupted time sword fighting with his three year old son matter.

I love that about him.

Selfishly I always really only miss being around you, however, this cute post reminded me of all the tines we would sit around the dinner table (pre-kids) and listen to Whit tell stories forever. a.because he is so funny, and b.because it takes him and hour and a half to eat a plateful of food.
