The hoop that Daddy built

Ever since Whit and I started to dream and discuss the days that we would be homeowners, we have included the plans for a basketball hoop where the family games would take place.

Well the timing was finally right to get the hoop that Whit had been researching (driving around the neighborhood looking at other peoples hoops) for years now. It first started with a tree transplant (Were still hoping that little guy recovers). Then a hole as deep as a 2nd grader. Whit decided that paying 400.00 for installation was not going to happen so thanks to a very handy and helpful father-in-law who happened to be in town for Thanksgiving, they confidently got the cement poured. That night the kids got to put their prints in the wet cement. A footprint is the best we could get out of Ty. For some reason doing this was a moment for me. Not sure why. I guess it was just a very tactile, permanent capture in time of my children on November 25th 2008.

And now the hoop is in, beckoning us to it. A new part of our family's history in this home.

What a wonderful thing to do. We are living a wonderful adventure but I envy those that can call a place home. I can't wait to one day be putting up my own hoop with Carson anxiously waiting at my side.
