Exactly eight years ago from this very moment I was in the middle of labor. I was in Ithaca New York. It had been freezing cold outside. Setting records for the number of single digits in a row in fact. There was an eminent storm brewing that would soon cover the whole east coast, shutting down airports and covering the state of New York in a heavy blanket of winters white. We made it to the hospital with just 45 minutes to spare before our little baby Brooke made her grand entrance into the world at 12:05 am February 17th.
Those memories feel me with so much ache and sweet nostalgia. 8 years. So long ago.
Now I celebrate my beautiful daughters 8th birthday and can't believe what a shining star she is. About to get baptized. She breezed through the discussions. So eager. So bright. Our home would be so unbalanced without her. Brooke has a big heart with enough room to feel her whole family up with praise and compliments. She is compassionate. Right before Christmas she donated all of her hard earned money to an orphanage in China. She is decisive. She doesn't second guess herself. She is our gift. I feel so proud to to be the mother of this strong, courageous little girl who came to us in the middle of a cold and snowy winters night. We love you Brooke.

What a sweet post! Happy Birthday to Brooke! She obviously has a wonderful mother, and that is why she is such an amazing girl.

You're back!!! So happy and hope to read many more entries of your beautiful family. We miss you all and I think about you often. We are here in June and we will be in UT in July so you decide what is easiest for you. We would be happy to meet you halfway to Philly and just hang out with your fam. Hope to see you soon!

Sweet Brooke! I'm so happy we live close. Family/cousins are such a blessing. We also loved being at her baptism today.
